WANDERER

When I was a younger child,

Mother always warned,

"Don't wander too far!

The Gypsies will take you away!"

And now I sit in my gardens,

Surrounded by Bittersweet

And the Rose of Sharon

And I wonder;

Have I traveled too far

Far them to find me,

Or not yet

Far enough ?

Weather Watch

Jan. 2, 2010

On Jan.1, 2010, we woke to see the breath of the Winter Dragons...aka the exhaust from heater vents.  It got down to -35C on New Year's Eve & the New Day wasn't much better.  However, we've had a wee bit of a warming trend & today's high was a wapping -17C!  Which means that our bird feeders almost require air control. Red Polls, Chickadees, (Where do they all come from?!), Snow Birds, & of course, one of our resident squirrels.  There are at least four Red Squirrels in the area, but this one seems to have a nest in one of the Spruce trees, as well as the neighbor's tool shed, as well as a few other places.  We've been "grandparents" to at least 15 years worth of Squirrels, Robins, Chickadees, & Tree Swallows.

There were two huge Sundogs on either side of the sun yesterday afternoon.  They were so big that I refer to them as "sun archangels".  They always herald a weather change.  Today was overcast; yesterday was clear. Welcome to winter in Alberta!

WELCOME

Welcome to the head waters!

Like all streams, this one rambles and roams as it will.

There are weather observations, some of my own writing,

quotes from others, perhaps a Dream journal.

At some points the waters swirl around!

At others they will form a quiet, reflecting pool.

I hope you will enjoy dipping into this stream

to see what treasures it has to offer.
